Bitcoin Market Views Roundup for August 21, 2026: Key Levels Amid Bull-Bear Divergence

MSX Compare Editorial Published 2026-09-01 🟡 Intermediate 4 min read

Analyst roundup on Bitcoin's short-term outlook: watch the 75k-76k resistance break, buy pullbacks to 69k-70k, and beware fakeouts and chase-long risk.

On August 21, Bitcoin extended its strong rally, reaching an intraday high of 73,800, just one step away from the 74,400 resistance level. The market is clearly divided on the next move: bulls are watching for a break above 75,000–76,000 to target 80,000 or even 100,000, while cautious traders are waiting for a pullback to the 69,000–70,000 area to enter longs. This article summarizes the core views of several market participants for readers' reference.

Analyst Tiyafeiluo believes this rally could be the start of a bull market and maintains a bullish bias above 68,000. No overbought signal has appeared yet, so the price may continue to push higher; however, a fake breakout is possible. If the price falls back later, shorts opened at higher levels should be held for longer-term positions.

Wave theory analyst Liu Yudong notes that the rebound from 57,710 belongs to a certain wave degree or a b-wave structure. If it is a b-wave scenario, the price needs to rise to 105,722 (i.e., above 100,000); otherwise, it could still eventually break below 58,000. In the short term, resistance exists near 77,364. Currently, no pullback larger than 1,905 points has appeared, so there is no sign of a top yet.

#Targets and Support/Resistance

Bitcoin Warlord had already signaled a bull market expectation. In his July 30 micro-structure analysis, he gave a target of 80,000 after breaking the trendline, with an Ethereum target of 2,400. The price has now broken through the 71,000-72,000 range, so the next leg is directly toward 80,000. On a pullback to around 70,000 for Bitcoin or around 2,200 for Ethereum, longs can be added.

Crypto Circle Director believes the 72,450 resistance has been broken and turned into support, with the next resistance levels at 75,000 and 76,600. After breaking that range, the target is 80,000. Chasing-long sentiment is currently intense and funding rates are elevated. Market makers may stall at key levels rather than push against the trend. He suggests placing stop-losses for chased longs at 72,400.

Bitcoin Brother Feng judges that this rally is not over yet and the probability of a deep pullback is low, with a likely one-shot test of the previous high around 82,000. After that, a correction of around 10,000 points may begin to flush out leveraged longs at high levels, before pushing toward 100,000. The long position in a certain platform token he previously recommended has been signaled to take profit.

#Funding and Spot Signals

Gong Youcai analyzes that the catalyst for the rally was the Federal Reserve's expansion of Treasury buybacks, but the real driver came from short liquidations: about $1 billion in short positions were liquidated in a short period, and the price rose more than $3,000 in one minute. Going forward, close attention should be paid to whether spot buying and ETF inflows can keep up. If buying is insufficient, the price could fall back to 66,000-67,000. The key focus is on whether the 74,000-76,000 range can be broken.

John, admin of the WWG group, points out from a macro perspective that the total market cap of altcoins has not changed significantly, Bitcoin is outperforming stocks, and one should not be contrarian bearish. Spot buying signals look good, and holding the key 69,000 level is enough. If the price touches around 74,300, it may cool off with a pullback. The 68,000-70,000 area is an accumulation zone, and the long-term target remains 100,000.

#Altcoins and Trading Strategies

Luo Sheng believes that the early movers are not necessarily the final winners. If this is the start of a bull market, it is still not too late to position in altcoins, and investors can focus on some quality assets.

Shu Qing points out that after Bitcoin broke above the 67,000 neckline, it has already risen more than 10,000 points and is now approaching the key 73,000 level. She does not recommend shorting against the trend. Aggressive traders may try small short positions with a stop-loss above 74,000 and take profit on a pullback to 70,000. Those who have not entered can dollar-cost average 2% of their position daily and complete their accumulation before the end of October; the long-term target is 180,000-200,000. She suggests taking partial profits at 73,000 and positioning in some altcoins.

Blockchain Sniper Vivi Yu believes there may be resistance above 70,000, but does not suggest shorting. Instead, one should buy altcoins on pullbacks. The quarterly target has been achieved, with 72,000-75,000 as this quarter's high, and no signs of a pullback have appeared yet.

Crypto Chart Trader stresses that the 200-day moving average at 69,000 must not be lost, and the 72,000-74,000 area above is a resistance zone. Daily volume has expanded. If volume continues to expand, the bear market can be declared over. Spot positions bought near 60,000 can continue to be held.

#Order Book and Market Sentiment

Liquidation heatmaps show the bulls in control. Bullish liquidation levels are concentrated near 71,500 and 69,000; Ethereum bullish liquidation levels are concentrated in the 2,200-2,260 area. Open interest is rising, so the probability of a short-term pullback is slightly higher. The Fear and Greed Index is at 71, in the greed zone.

#Summary Views

Summarizing the views of multiple analysts, Bitcoin has not yet shown overbought or topping signals, but it has entered a key resistance zone and the risk of chasing longs is high. The 69,000-70,000 area below is important support, and a pullback there can be seen as a long entry opportunity. If 68,000 is lost, the outlook turns weak. If the price breaks and holds above 76,000, it is expected to challenge 80,000 or even higher.
